Certain machines in the Apricot MS540 range incorporate some of the most innovative features in multimedia PCs. This includes the new PD drive that can read a CD-ROM, the data can be edited or combined with other data, and then it can be written back to a rewritable, removable, 650MB PD Cartridge
using the same fully motorised loading tray in the same drive.

Technology that delivers real business benefits
The implementation of the latest Panasonic optical disk is another example of how Mitsubishi Electric harnesses innovative technology and brings it to the desktop, giving users real operating benefits.

The PD Drive allows you to write, erase and then re-write to the cartridge over 500,000 times. As they are as easy to use and carry as a floppy disk, the greater storage capacity gives the serious business user some clear advantages over conventional CD plus floppy based machines:

* simpler hard disk back-up to one disk rather than a number of floppies
* archiving and subsequent speed of data retrieval
* transporting large graphics files and spreadsheets for presentation almost impossible on a single floppy
* data integrity and disk durability over a long period
