Overview
|
The Apricot VS660
combines robustness and value for money in a mini-tower chassis that provides massive room
for expansion. Now there's virtually no limit to your choice when it comes to specifying
your business PC. Because it comes with only the components you need, there's no cost
burden of unwanted frills and features with the VS660. You can start with the exact
combination of processor, memory and hard disk you need, and then add whatever else you
want: scanner, tape streamer, additional hard drives, CD-ROM, sound card, modem - almost
without limit. Because the VS660 meets Apricot's own exacting performance standards, you
can be sure that whatever additions you make, you can rely on them performing to the very
best of their capabilities. Processing Power
For maximum performance, suited
for true 32-bit operating systems and applications, the latest Pentium Pro processors are
ideal. Supplied with the latest 200MHz CPU these systems are at the leading edge of
personal computing performance.
Faster than ever
With every new development in
software, the demands placed on the computer's resources increase. The VS660 range has
been designed to meet all these needs - and more.
Systems include DIMM memory technology, utilising
high specification 60nS parts and benefiting from ECC protection for greater reliability,
this provides a memory sub-system that has been designed specifically for the demands of
Pentium Pro CPUs.
Expandable and upgradeable
The VS660 does more than just
provide room for expansion: it offers a choice of three PCI slots and four ISA slots.
There are no less than six drive bays, and a 200 watt power supply to feed them all. The
upgrading process has been well thought out too: with facility for up to 192MB of ECC
protected EDO memory in the three SIMM sockets.
Sounds good
All models incorporate integrated
SoundBlaster Vibra-16 audio from the market leader Creative Labs, providing high quality
business audio through the unit's built-in speaker, or, for maximum quality through
external speakers.
USB Expansion
The VS660 Pentium Pro system has
a dual USB port, allowing up to 127 devices to be attached per port. With USB, there is no
more guesswork about which serial or parallel port to use, and devices can be added
without requiring knowledge of IRQ settings, DMA channels or I/O addresses.
Desktop Management
Systems are compliant with the
latest DMI manageability standards. With the addition of a DMI browser application for
Windows NT 4 Workstation* asset management of the system can be undertaken either locally
or remotely via the network.
