Applications on VGA Paper White Monitors -
WordPerfect 5
There is a problem using WordPerfect 5 on XEN-S with VGA Paper White
monitors where the SHIFT-F7, View screen, displays black on black. This is due to VGA
being a grey-scale monitor which automatically takes a colour signal and converts it to
the correct grey-scale. For a temporary get-round, please follow the steps below:- NOTE
that the problem was fixed on the Qi with 1.02.06 ROMs which are available from Apricot
Computer Services.
- Before entering WordPerfect, type AMODE VGA=COLOUR. (This may be entered
in a WP.BAT file) (For XEN-i, Paradise VGA 640x480 16 Colour option) and press ENTER.
- When in WordPerfect select SHIFT-F1 (Setup), 3 (Display), 5 (Graphics
Screen Type). Highlight the IBM VGA 640x480 16 Colour option and press ENTER.
Certain type styles may not show up very well, or at all, as the default colours
may be, for example, dark blue on black. The colours for all type styles may be changed by
doing :
- SHIFT-F1 (Setup), 3 (Display), 2 (Colours/Fonts/Attributes) and changing
the display colours for the various fonts.
Please note that versions of WordPerfect 5 earlier than 14-11-88 may
have problems in changing the foreground colour. This may be rectified by contacting
WordPerfect Corporation directly.
