MCA Add-On Cards

With many MCA cards, the instruction manual details the installation procedure for IBM PS/2 machines. This is fundamentally different from the Qi installation procedure and should largely be ignored. The copy routine on IBM is done automatically by the Qi, reducing the number of steps needed to install the board.

a) Insert the board into the expansion slot (note some boards need to be in a specific slot number).
b) Boot the machine from the Reference Diskette supplied with the Qi.
c) Error 166 will appear, press ENTER to continue, followed by ESCAPE so that the automatic configuration is not run.
d) Select install from the menu, which will prompt you for the disk containing the .ADF file (supplied with the board), this does all the copying of the necessary files and no manual copying of files should be attempted.
e) Select Configuration, Automatic from the menu which will enable the board. Press ESCAPE until the machine reboots, remove the Reference Diskette and proceed following the board manual to install any drivers or utility programs.
