EPROM Removal

When removing EPROMs or any integrated circuit from printed circuit boards, please take care not to damage any tracks which may be located beneath the socket. A number of system units returned for repair and exchange have been found to have damaged printed circuit tracks beneath EPROM sockets.

Do NOT use a screwdriver to remove socketted ICs.

DO use a suitable IC removal tool.

Suitable IC extraction tools may be found in many high street electrical and electronic hobby shops. Maplins, for example, carry a product number FD54J which retails for less than £1-00.
