14" & 17" Low Emission Monitors and Screen Offset

Users of Apricot 14" (XJ49905) and 17" (XJ49906) low emission monitors may detect a horizontal shift of the video display area when changing graphics resolutions. The display is shifted when changing from text mode or 640x480, to 800x600 or 1024x768, when used on system units that utilise the C&T 452 video controller. Apricot system units that use this video controller are as follows :-

LANstation 20 Qi 900
XEN-LS 386SX-20 Qi 486
XEN-LS 486SX-20 FTe
XEN-LS 486DX2-40 FTs

Users of Eizo 16", 20" & 21" and other multisync monitors will be aware of this issue and the fact that the monitor output on these systems was synchronised for use with the Apricot dual sync monitor (XJ44567). This problem has been addressed on LS Pro and XEN-LS II by adding an extra field into the SETUP utility (see IPB 4081 for more information), but this is not possible on the above range of machines.

A DOS based utility is being developed to allow the video controller to be setup in accordance with the monitor type connected. Until this is available, and for those whose operating systems do not use the BIOS, manual adjustment of horizontal size and position is the only solution.
