VX-Net & Qi PCi with MCA Western Digital Ethernet Card

Problem:

There is a memory clash between the default settings of server.sys and the MCA Western Digital Ethernet card. The problem is highlighted when users cannot log on to the network "cannot connect to MAIN0" and GETTIME cannot set the workstation date and time.

Solution:

Use Qi Reference Disk and change the default settings for the Ethernet card, i.e. the shared RAM space, from default (C4000h) to DC000h.

Then edit config.sys as follows:

from DEVICE=SERVER.SYS /M:EE00H
to read DEVICE=SERVER.SYS /M:DC00H

(loss of RAM from default is only 17K)
