Pegasus Senior 5 & VGA Monochrome Systems

A problem has been reported to us when running the above software on a machine with on- board VGA and a mono monitor. The problem is that the machine runs very slowly when drawing the screens, approximately four times slower than an MDA/Hercules or an equivalent VGA colour system.

The problem would seem to be caused by the machine being set to VGA mono mode, this being the automatic setting if a colour monitor is not attached at power-on.

The cure is simply to set the mode to colour, thus giving variations of grey scale on a mono screen; this is done by typing the following before entering Pegasus;

AMODE VGA=COL
