New 1.3GB and 2GB SCSI Winchesters and OS/2
1.2x and 1.3x
Care must be taken when quoting machines including these drives that are
intended for use with OS/2 1.2x and 1.3x. This is because there is a maximum usable disk
size of 1GByte. Disks larger than 1GByte can be used but only the first Gigabyte of the
disk is accessible and the rest of the space will be wasted.
This restriction is partly due to the OS/2 FDISK which has a maximum of
1024 cylinders per disk, and partly due to the Adaptec card BIOS ROM (used by OS/2 when
booting ) which has a maximum cylinder size of 1KByte.
