Novell NetWare 3.11 Operating System Patches
and Updates
Novell have just released version 7 of the operating system patch kit
for NetWare 3.11.
311PT7.ZIP contains 35 patches for Novell NetWare 3.11. Version 7 of the
kit supersedes all previous releases of the 3.11 OS patches distributed by Novell (under
the names 311PT1.ZIP, 311PT2.ZIP, 311PT3.ZIP, 311PT4.ZIP, 311PT5.ZIP and 311PT6.ZIP).
Version 7 of the patch kit includes all the patches found in previous
releases, and two new patches.

This patch fixes a problem that may occur when
multiple threads do asynchronous reads. It is possible for a thread to read data that was
written by another thread. This problem has been known to occur with the Btrieve.nlm
application if a Btrieve data file page size is not 512, 1024, 2048 or 4096 bytes. If the
page size is not one of these sizes, the data file may become corrupt. |

ASNCRDFX.NLM should NOT be used in conjunction
with Novell's Packet Burst technology, as data corruption has been observed when both are
loaded on the server. Novell are currently investigating this. |
As with previous versions of the patch kit, Novell do not require that
any of the patches in the archive be loaded UNLESS problems are experienced, in which case
the appropriate patch to overcome the problem encountered should be loaded. There is a
full readme document in the archive that explains what all the patches are and what they
fix. In particular, any patches to fix ABEND or disk FAT errors should be checked before
reporting problems to Technical Support.
Version 7 of the NetWare 3.11 Operating System patch kit is available as
a single archive, 311PT7.ZIP (54356 bytes), and can be obtained from Authorised Novell
Distributors, from the Novell NetWire service, or from the Apricot Technical Support
Bulletin Board System (in file area 37).
Also released is a new version of Novell's NETBIOS.EXE. Version 3.1 of
NETBIOS.EXE is available for download from The Apricot Technical Support BBS in file area
37 as NB310.ZIP (13990 bytes). Version 3.1 fixes a problem where NETBIOS.EXE could crash
with a '!!!NetBIOS ABEND FreeIPXBlock - already on free list' error.
Finally, new versions of RPRINTER.EXE (version 1.26) and PSERVER.EXE,
.NLM and .VAP (version 1.26) are now available. All files are contained in a single
archive, PSERV2.ZIP (148061 bytes) that is available for download from file area 37 of the
