LS Pro and XEN-LS II Network Drivers

Apricot have just released version 2.2 of the LS Pro and XEN-LS II drivers pack disks. This new release includes new display drivers, a video alignment shell, new audio drivers (including a DOS mixer utility), and a new batch of network drivers that overcome some limitations with the previous releases of these disks.

NetWare workstation DOS IPX driver.

This release includes a new IPX driver for the i82596 interface. The \NETWORK\IPX directory on disk 1 contains the 82596.LAN and 82596SH.OBJ necessary and they should be copied to your WSGEN diskette.

When created, IPX should report.....

LAN Option: Apricot 82596 on-board Ethernet v1.11 (930324)
Hardware Configuration: IO: 300; IRQ and DMA are self configured

NetWare OS/2 Requester (ODI) driver.

This release includes a new OS/2 Requester/ODI driver for the i82596 interface. The \NETWORK\ODI\OS2 directory contains 82596ODI.SYS version 2.01 which can be used with the NetWare OS/2 Requester. See the NETWORK.TXT file on the root of disk 1 for installation details.

NetWare DOS ODI driver.

The DOS ODI driver supplied for the i82596 interface has been upgraded on this release of the drivers pack. Version 1.02 of the 82592ODI.COM driver can be found in the \NETWORK\ODI\DOS directory, and includes fixes for a problem where the driver could potentially pass bad frames to the protocol stack as if they were good frames!

DOS and OS/2 NDIS driver.

A new DOS NDIS driver for the i82596 interface is included with this release that overcomes the limitation of the previous release whereby it could not be loaded high into UMB space under DOS 5/6. Version 2.00 of ETH596.DOS overcomes this problem (if EMM386 or APRUMB is used), along with a number of other fixes that have been incorporated into both the DOS and OS/2 NDIS drivers (found in the \NETWORK\NDIS\DOS and \NETWORK\NDIS\OS2 directories on disk 1).
