Microsoft NT Service Packs and Updates
Microsoft have recently released onto their Internet site a number of
software updates for Windows NT. As always, these updates have been placed into File Area
88 of the Insight BBS (and are also available by anonymous FTP from ftp.apricot.co.uk in
/bbs/area88).
< SP1_400I.EXE
This file contains the latest service pack release for Microsoft Windows
NT 4.0 (running on the Intel processor platform). It contains a cumulative collection of
fixes that Microsoft have released for Windows NT 4.0 (server and workstation).
Service Pack 1 contains the HOTFIX fix (as documented in IPB 2267), along with a number of
problems associated with WinSock and the Internet Explorer, issues with data corruption,
and Explorer file copy errors. See SP1_400.TXT for full details.
An important point to remember with this (and previous service packs) is
that if a change is made to the components installed under NT after the service pack has
been applied, the service pack will need to be re-applied (so that files from the original
installation media can then be updated by the service pack). The same applies if the
system has been repaired using an NT Emergency Repair Disk.
< SP1_400.TXT
This is the 'readme' file for the Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 1. It
contains installation instructions for the service pack, and details of the problems
fixed.
