Qi Systems and the Floppy Disk Drive under XENIX

Under some circumstances, there may be a corruption of data read in from double density floppy disks under SCO XENIX 386. This problem has been investigated by Apricot and a fix is now available.

A replacement floppy disk controller chip (part no. 12160130) is now available from Dealer Spares at Apricot Computer Services on Telephone number : 021 511 1234. This is a socketed part.

It is also possible that the reliability of Irwin tape backups may be implicated. If customers report errors when they verify their Irwin tape backups, please contact Unix support who will advise whether this fix is applicable.
