Micrografx Designer 3.01

If you have experienced difficulties running MICROGRAFX DESIGNER 3.01 with WINDOWS 3, it is suggested that you modify AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS as recommended by MICROGRAFX:

CONFIG.SYS

DEVICE=HIMEM.SYS (this must be the first entry)
FILES=35
BUFFERS=5
.
.
DEVICE=SMARTDRV.SYS ...... (if smartdrive is included, no more that 50% of the available RAM should be used)

AUTOEXEC.BAT

SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS
SET TMP=C:\WINDOWS (this tells DESIGNER where to locate its temporary files)

MICROGRAFX have advised us that they have a technology swap with MICROSOFT who are, as a result, due to modify the default CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT which is included with MS-DOS.

Super VGA 256 Colours

Support for super VGA with 256 colours was included for DESIGNER running under Windows 2, but was removed from DESIGNER 3.01 as it was anticipated that there would be no demand for it. MICROGRAFX will rectify this situation with the release of DESIGNER 3.1 which will include support for super VGA with 256 colours and will also support IBM's new XGA graphics standard. It is anticipated that this will be made available towards the end of the first quarter of 1991.
