1MByte SIMM Modules in TECMAR Memory Boards

A number of problems have been reported when fitting 1MByte memory SIMMs into TECMAR memory boards. The SIMMs in question are 80nS parts as supplied in the 4MByte memory upgrade pack (Product Code XB41708). Problems range from NMI errors to intermittent hanging.

We are currently investigating these failures and until such time as a solution is found the following points should be remembered :-

Where available use 100nS parts. These are identified by a suffix to the part code on the DRAM chips and on the back of the SIMM module e.g.

XXXXXXXXXX-80 = 80nS parts
XXXXXXXXXX-100 = 100nS parts
It is also still a valid option to use 256K SIMM modules as used in the 1MByte memory upgrade pack (Product Code XB41706).
