Support for Third Party Drives

It has recently been noticed that some FTe and FTs systems have been fitted with third party hard disk drives. It is important, when fitting third party drives, to observe the maximum supply rail current loading and operational temperature band for the system.

Warranty

Warranty is not provided on the installed parts, and failures due to the installed parts are not covered by the 90 day exchange guarantee or 12 month warranty. Any warranty work required due to third party installed parts is also not covered (e.g. temperature or DC power problems).

Apricot build fully-configured and tested systems to reduce any problem occurring with incompatible parts. Apricot cannot guarantee that third party parts are fully IBM system compatible.

Recommendation

We recommend that customers only fit Apricot specified drives. These drives have been rigorously tested over extended periods, by Apricot, and have been selected for their resilience, speed and power dissipation characteristics.
