ASPI2DOS.SYS - Command Line Switches
The command line options have been organized into two groups. The first
group of options (Group 1) MUST be specified when this driver is loaded into systems which
do not provide configuration jumpers readable through the AIC-6260. Group 1 options are
NOT required if this driver is used with the AHA1520 / AHA1522. The second group of
options (Group 2) are optional for any system, and may or may not be included on the
command line.
The following command line options may be added to the ASPI2DOS.SYS
driver to change the parameters of the host adapter :
DEVICE = \<directory>\ASPI2DOS.SYS [/Group 1
options] [/Group 2 options]
Group 1 Options Mandatory for systems without configuration hardware
readable by the AIC6260
/C |
Specifying this option will prevent SCSI targets from disconnecting
during command execution. When this option is specified, the /C- option must not be
specified. |
|
|
|
/C- |
Specifying this option will allow SCSI targets to disconnect during
command execution. When this option is specified, the /C option must not be specified. |
|
/TD |
This option allows the data transfer mode to be specified as 8-bit
second parity DMA. When this option is specified, the /TP option must not be specified.
Only DMA channel 0 should be used. |
|
/TP |
This option allows the data transfer mode to be specified as PIO. When
this option is specified, the /TD option must not be specified. |
|
/Y |
Specifying this option disables the checking of SCSI bus parity by the
host adapter. When this option is specified, the /Y- option must not be specified. |
|
/Y- |
Specifying this option enables the checking of SCSI bus parity by the
host adapter. When this option is specified, the /Y option must not be specified. |
|
/U |
Specifying this option enables the host adapter to initiate negotiation
with the target for synchronous data transfer. When this option is specified, the /U-
option must not be specified. |
|
/U- |
When this option is specified, the host adapter will not initiate
negotiation for synchronous data transfer, and will default to asynchronous data transfer.
The host adapter will negotiate for synchronous transfer if negotiation is initiated by
the target. |
|
/Ax |
This option allows specification of the host DMA channel. The
single-digit decimal channel number is specified at the location indicated by
"x". Only number 0 is valid. Other values may cause unpredictable results. |
|
/Hx |
This option allows specification of the host adapter SCSI ID. The
single-digit decimal address is specified at the location indicated by "x". Only
numbers 0 through 7 are valid. Any other values will be rejected, an error message will be
displayed, and the host adapter will default to the jumper setting. |
|
/Qx |
This option allows specification of the host interrupt request channel.
The single or double-digit decimal number at the location indicated by "x". Only
numbers 9, 10, 11 or 12 are valid. Any other values will be rejected, an error message
will be displayed and the host adapter will default to the jumper setting. |
Group 2 Options Optional for all systems
/D |
Specifying this option will display useful debugging information during
installation. |
|
/L |
Specifying this option will cause the LUNs to be addressed when
determining which logical units are present on the SCSI bus. If not specified, only LUN=0
will be addressed for each SCSI target. |
|
/Pxxx |
This option allows the AHA-152x base port address to be changed from
its default value. For example, /P140 will change the base port address from 340H to 140H.
Only two port addresses are valid : 340H (default) and 140H (alternate). Any other values
will be rejected, an error message will be displayed, and the default port address will be
used. The three hex digits are entered in the position indicated by "xxx". |
|
/Nx |
This option allows the AT bus on time to be changed from its default
value of 15 uSec. A single- or double-digit decimal number, representing microseconds, is
entered in the position indicated by "x". The maximum valid value is 15 uSec.
Values greater than the maximum will be rejected; an error message will be displayed, and
the default time will be used. |
|
/Fx |
This option allows the AT bus off time to be changed from its default
value of 1 uSec. A single- or double-digit decimal number, representing microseconds, is
entered in the position indicated by "x". The maximum valid value is 15 uSec.
Values greater than the maximum will be rejected, an error message will be displayed, and
the default time will be used. |
|
/I |
Specifying this option disables the loading of the INT 13 driver. This
option is used for debugging purposes only and should normally not be used. |
|
/Z |
This option can be used to set all Group 1 options to their default
values. This allows a shortcut to specifying each Group 1 option individually. Entering /Z
on the command line is equivalent to entering /C- /TP /Y /U /A0 /H7 /Q11. The default
values entered by /Z can be changed by including Group 1 options on the command line. For
example, /H5 /Z or /Z /H5 specifies the default configuration, except the SCSI ID is 5
instead of 7. Any Group 1 option will override the corresponding /Z default value. |
