Adding 5.25" Floppy And 120MB Tape Drive to XEN-LS II

It has been reported that some add-in 5.25" floppy drives and 120MB tape drives have been supplied with the drive select jumper incorrectly configured, resulting in the failure of the installed 3.5" floppy drive. For correct operation of these add-in drives in XEN-LS II, ensure that the drive select jumper for these drives is in position 1.

Note 1

Care should be taken when fitting additional drives to XEN-LS II to ensure they are connected to the correct motherboard port. The connector for the 3.5" floppy drive carries power and data to the drive. If a 5.25" drive, tape drive or CD-ROM drive is accidentally connected to the 3.5" floppy port, damage may result to the motherboard, interface cable or drive.

Note 2

External 5.25" floppy drives as fitted to XEN-i, XEN-S and Qi have a modification to the drive PCB in order to present the correct drive identification. These drives may not be installed into XEN-LS II without the removal of the modification or a special interface cable.
