The following information may be used when calculating air conditioning requirements. Values shown are for maximum power dissipation.

These values are based on the following formula:-

1 Watt = 1 Joule/Sec = 3600 Joules/Hour.
since 1 BTU = 1055 Joules, then 1 Watt = 3.412 BTUs/Hour

In addition, we assume 70% conversion rate from PSU output to thermal output. This cancels out any losses in the PSU, and the thermal output can be calculated directly from the power supply output.

Note:

The power dissipation quoted is for maximum PSU output power, not input power. Switch mode power supply units are 70% efficient. Add 30% to produce the total maximum power consumption. See IPB 4124.
