HIMEM.SYS fails Memory Test on LS Pro

This problem will only exhibit itself if the memory has been upgraded to 6 or 8MB. When booting the machine it will report an error that HIMEM.SYS has detected unreliable XMS memory.

This error should only occur on machines that have a Motherboard Part Number 15311131 Rev 01 and the BIOS revision is 2.02 or less.

The problem can be fixed by upgrading the ROM BIOS to 2-03. New systems will have this new BIOS and the motherboard will be Rev 02.

Listed below are the release notes for 2-03 BIOS :-

2-03 10/5/94 RIPL problems were being encountered when several machines were on a network. This has now been resolved. Memory errors were being experienced with certain brands of SIMM. This was caused by excessive drive current and has now been resolved.

If you encounter the above problem then please contact Hardware Support to arrange a BIOS upgrade to 2-03 which will be a Free of Charge exchange.
