Hard Disk Drive Timeout on XEN-PC 560 / 566

The XEN-PC 560 / 566 hard disk controller is capable of supporting up to four hard disk drives. The system BIOS controls the timeout period for these drives and is set as default to five seconds for all. If less than four drives are installed, the system boot time can be shortened by reducing the timeout period for drives that are not fitted. To adjust the timeout period follow the following instructions.

  1. At boot time press <F1> to run SETUP.
  2. Select STANDARD CMOS SETUP then any key to continue.
  3. Using the cursor keys, move to the drive timeout periods for none-installed drives.
  4. Using the <page up> and <page down> keys reduce the value(s) to zero seconds.
  5. Press <ESC> - <F10> and then <Y> to save and exit.
