New LS Pro - Processor Upgrades
The new (Caracal) LS Pro cannot be upgraded using a co-processor.
If it is required to upgrade a new LS Pro 486SX-33, this can be achieved
as follows:
- Replace the existing 486SX processor with a 486DX2-66 'S' stepping
processor. The correct step of processor can be identified by the markings on the chip or
the label on the heatsink - it MUST be SX795 or greater. DX2 processors must be fitted
with a heatsink, part number 14941731. If you attach a heatsink, make sure you copy the
details on top of the chip onto a label before you attach the heatsink, then stick the
label on the heatsink.
- Move the jumper on PL25 from 'SX' to 'OTHER'.
- To gain maximum performance benefit, fit the 256K Cache RAM Upgrade,
product code BP53934.
NB: The September '94 issue of The Apricot Buyer shows the 33MHz
co-processor as an option for the new LS Pro - this is incorrect. |
