Incorrect Video drivers on XEN-PCM DX2-66/4/1/365/WFW type SH79879

A number of the above machines have been shipped from the factory with incorrect Video drivers and WinMode loaded in Windows.

All suppliers receiving this machine should check for the following errors.

  1. On boot up the CLMODE version 3 area shows Ignoring unknown command and a resolution setting.

  2. Vid8514 appears after Windows logo and jumps back to the DOS prompt.

If either of these errors occur, the GD543x drivers have been loaded, which is incorrect. The correct drivers are GD5426 and should be loaded from floppy disk. They can be obtained from the Apricot BBS Area 41 and the files are GD5426_1(to 4).exe, or, from the Insight CD in the disk images under CL5426/28 VER 1.41.

The first line in the Autoexec.bat file, starting with the syntax c:\windows\vgautil\clmode.exe ????? MUST be deleted. Then install the correct drivers from File Manager in Windows.

The Icons, in the Apricot Applications Directory, for WINMODE and cd543x drivers must be deleted. A new Application called VGA Utilities will be created where the options for the screen types is chosen.

If there is any confusion or problems in the correcting of this problem, then please contact Hardware Support on 0121-717-7171.
