Diamond motherboards and 200MHz Pentium processors

IPB UPDATE

This IPB supersedes IPB 4172 dated 9 February 1996

Please disregard all previous copies.

Current owners handbooks will only show the upgrade path to 150MHz Pentium processors. This is because when the manuals were printed the 150MHz option was considered to be the fastest that Intel would offer. However, as this has not proved to be the case, these are the settings for installing the 166MHz chips.

Intel have now released a 200Mhz Pentium processor. The settings are shown below.

Processor Speed PL17 SW1, || = Link, : = No link ISA (MHz)
P 75 VRE Pin 1 || || : : : : : : 8.33
P 90 VRE Pin 1 : || : : || : : : 7.5
P 100 VRE Pin 1 || : : : || : : : 8.33
P 120 VRE Pin 1 : || || : || : : : 7.5
P 133 VRE Pin 1 || : || : || : : : 8.33
P 150 VRE Pin 1 : || || || || : : : 7.5
P 166 VRE Pin 1 || : || || || : : : 8.33
P 200 VRE Pin 1 || : : || || : : : 8.33 - see note

Although shown here with no links, the final 3 positions don't matter if they are linked or not.

SW1 is located (looking from the front of the machine) on the left hand edge of the motherboard, slightly behind the cache socket.

NOTE: To use the 200Mhz processor, bios version 5.07 or greater must be used. The use of an earlier bios version will not support the processor.
