Windows 95 detecting an unknown PCI Card

When Windows 95 is installed onto a Trent motherboard based system (product codes LA, MM, VG), the Windows 95 plug and play technology detects an unknown PCI Card. Windows 95 will prompt for a driver to be installed for this card.

The PCI card is actually the Universal Serial Bus (USB) adapter.

At present there are no Windows 95 drivers for the USB adapter. The USB adapter also uses an interrupt which may cause conflict problems if additional adapter cards are installed.

The USB adapter can be disabled within the machines BIOS set-up by utilising the following procedure.

Enter the BIOS set-up by pressing F1 at boot up.

Select Advanced

Select The USB Item from the Menu

By using the cursor keys set the USB to disabled

Press escape and save the settings.

When Windows 95 reboots select START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM, DEVICE MANAGER and delete the unknown device.
