Problems Connecting FT1200 System and Monitor to APC 420 UPS

We have recently been made aware of a number of occasions where both the FT1200 and accompanying monitor have been connected to APC 420 UPS units, with the result that the UPS has apparently failed when the monitor was powered up.

Mitsubishi Electric PC Division does not recommend this combination of FT1200 system unit and monitor, as it exceeds the rating for the APC 420. The overload surge created by switching on the monitor, can subsequently cause the UPS to fail. The APC 420 is rated to support the system unit ONLY, and the monitor must therefore be connected to an independent mains source.
