VX-Net and LANstations with Common Disks

Reference/Setup Diskette User's Guide
Appendix - For Network Administrators 1

The LANstation series come shipped with a Reference/Setup diskette that should be used to configure its CMOS RAM . This disk includes a new version of SETUP.EXE (Version 1.3) that correctly supports the configuration of the LANstation. Earlier versions will not work correctly - see IPB 4039 for additional details.

The Reference/Setup Diskette User's Guide has an appendix that explains how to copy the Reference/Setup software to a network soft/common disk. The appendix incorrectly states that the full contents of the Reference/Setup diskette should be copied into the VX-Net common disk files. In actual fact, all that should be copied is SETUP.EXE, so the commands to be used to set up the common disk files should be as follows:

softcopy a:setup.exe msdos32i.dsk
softcopy a:setup.exe msdos33i.dsk
softcopy a:setup.exe msdos40i.dsk

and for LAN Manager, the command would be,

softcopy a:setup.exe common.dsk

not as stated in the Reference/Setup Diskette User's Guide.

(in other words, replace a:*.* with a:setup.exe)
