Installing Sytos Plus for OS/2 1.21 on a VX
FT
The following procedure details the method of installing SYTOS PLUS on a
VX FT running OS/2 1.21.
- Run the install program from the Sytos plus diskette.
- Select the directory where the software will be installed.
- The device drivers menu will then appear. You must select the ARCHIVE
2150s -ISA driver for any internal tape in the VX FT.
The software will then be copied onto the hard disk.
The install program will then ask whether you want the driver added to
CONFIG.SYS, answer YES to this question. You then get the option of creating a Sytos plus
group in Presentation manager; it is best to create this group because it makes it easier
to run Sytos plus.
Before you reboot the machine you MUST remove a line from the config.sys
file that the installation program has added. The line is:
DEVICE=C:\SYPLUS\SYFILES\aspi4os2.sys
This line must be removed because the existing Adaptec disk driver
already contains an ASPI driver, therefore this driver is not needed.
WARNING
If you reboot before editing out the driver, the machine will hang and
OS/2 will have to be re-installed.
Once this line has been edited out, the FT should be rebooted and Sytos
can be used.
N.B. Sytos plus for OS/2 only works on OS/2 version
1.21. If you wish to use Sytos plus on OS/2 1.1, you must boot from DOS 4 and use the DOS
version of Sytos plus, as an OS/2 partition is similar in structure to a DOS 4 partition.
