Banyan Vines and SCSI Tape Drives in an FTs

On January 11th 1991, the Apricot FTs 486 was approved as a Vines Certified Platform to run Vines 4.00. The certification configuration included an internal 150MB SCSI tape unit (TI43550).

After further investigation and testing within the Network Support Group, it has been found that the 150MB SCSI internal tape drive is the ONLY SCSI tape drive available from Apricot that is supported. The DC600 320/525MB SCSI tape streamer (TI45957) and the 1.3GB Digital Data Storage (DAT) SCSI drive (TI44433) are NOT supported under Vines.

If a larger tape storage/backup capacity is required, contact a Vines distributor for details of approved tape backup devices.

Note: This has been confirmed by the Banyan Technical Support Response Centre.
