NetWare 2.2 Memory Requirements

We have recently received information from Novell with regard to the amount of RAM required to run a NetWare 2.2 server.

The memory requirements are 2.5 MB for a server running no "VAPs" (dedicated or non-dedicated) and 4MB for a server running a VAP or VAPs. The important thing to remember here, is that if you wish to use the NetWare remote printing functions, Apricot Security or the Apricot UPS driver for the FT, then you must load a VAP.

It is therefore recommended that 4MB minimum be installed in ALL NetWare 2.2 servers unless you can be certain that none of the above mentioned VAPs (or any others for that matter) will be required.

Note: Increasing the server's RAM means re-installing NetWare in order that it can re-define the system resources to take account of the increased available RAM.
