Archive Tape Support under Sytos Plus for OS/2 Version 1.33

Following the recent release of Microsoft LAN Manager 2.1 there is also a new version of Sytos Plus for OS/2. This version of Sytos Plus is being shipped with LAN Manager 2.1 and is designed to provide support for the new SCSI LADDR ( LAyered Device Driver aRchitecture ) drivers. We have found, however, that both the Archive 525MB tape drive and the Archive 1.3GB DDS drive are not currently supported by this new version of Sytos Plus.

Currently, Sytron have not written a driver for the 525MB tape drive, and the driver for the DDS drive, although included within Sytos Plus, does not function. The Archive 150MB tape drive however functions normally, so at present this is the only backup device on our price list supported by Sytos Plus.

We are currently closely involved with Microsoft and we expect a solution to the problems as soon as possible.

This problem is not a fault of the Apricot hardware, but a failure of Sytos Plus to support the full range of tape devices available in the marketplace in the first release.

We will issue another bulletin when a fix to the problem becomes available, but if further details are required please contact Apricot Network Support.

Note: Older versions of Sytos Plus cannot be used with Microsoft OS/2 1.31 because they do not support LADDR and OS/2 1.31 does not support ASPI drivers.
