Sytos Plus Version 1.33 BETA DDS Driver Installation

Hardware requirements:

Only certain revisions of the Adaptec AHA1640 SCSI controller work with the BETA DDS driver due to changes in the Adaptec MicroCode. The revisions of cards that work correctly are:

03 Rev E (with modified Adaptec MicroCode ROM available from Technical Support)
05 Rev E (current shipping revision)

All earlier revisions of Adaptec AHA1640 cards will not work with this driver.

The Archive 1.3GB Python DDS drive must be fitted with 2.56 Firmware (Check Sum 07F9). The Firmware ROM is located in front of the block of Dip switches when the DDS drive is viewed from the top. This Firmware can be obtained from Technical Support if required.

The configuration switches on the Archive Python DDS drive should be set as follows....

S1, S2, S3

set to the SCSI ID (normally ID 2, S1 OFF, S2 ON, S3 OFF)

S4

(the SCSI mode switch) set to SCSI II (ON)

S5

(the Parity switch) set to ENABLE (ON)

S6, S7 and S8

all set OFF

Software Configuration:

The driver consists of two files, ORDL111V.VSD and ORDL111D.DLL. Both of these files must be copied into the Sytos Plus SYFILES directory (we shall assume in this example that the default directory of C:\SYPLUS\SYFILES has been used).

Edit CONFIG.SYS and REM out the line which reads:

C:\SYPLUS\SYFILES\ARL_DATA.VSD
(assuming the Sytos Plus was installed for the Archive Python)

and replace it with a new line which reads:

C:\SYPLUS\SYFILES\ORDL111V.VSD

Then shut down the server and reboot.

Run Sytos Plus and choose Backup Device Setup from the Utilities Menu. Highlight and Delete the existing Archive Python DAT device.

Click on Add Backup Device and select the OS2 AR DAT - LDR 111 driver and choose OK to return to the main screen.

Click on Backup to...... to select the device driver.

You can now run the default procedure or load another procedure. The default procedure, or any other procedure, must be saved after the Backup device has been selected, otherwise an ERROR 21 will be displayed on starting Sytos Plus (because there will be no backup device selected).
