Novell Releases New Packet Burst Files for
WAN Links
Novell have today released a fix for Packet Burst that implements a new
packet burst algorithm for WAN links. The fix overcomes a problem that could result in WAN
saturation with resent packets from a previous burst that had already been received at the
other side of the WAN link.
The updated files are in a self-extracting archive called PBURST.EXE,
which contains a new PBURST.NLM for NetWare 3.11, and patches for NetWare 3.12 and 4.01
(which have PBURST built-in by default).
The update also contains a full readme file, and a Novell Application
Note on the implementation of Packet Burst technology.
We recommend that this update be installed on all sites using Packet
Burst, especially if version 1.10 of the VLM client software is in use.
