Novell NetWare Updates

A number of new NetWare updates have recently been released by Novell. All the updates documented below can be found in File Area 37 of Apricot Insight BBS, and all have been incorporated in the update history document NWUPDATE.TXT that is also kept in File Area 37.

  • PBURST.EXE
This update contains updated Packet Burst mode support files for NetWare 3.11, 3.12 and 4.01. Full documentation is included in the update. If implementing this update, you will also need VLMUP2.EXE (see below).

  • VLMUP2.EXE
This update contains a number of .VLM modules that have been modified since the release of DOSUP9.EXE (and VLM 1.10). The update contains a new VLM.EXE, and new CONN.VLM, REDIR.VLM, FIO.VLM, AUTO.VLM, GENERAL.VLM, and IPXODI.COM (version 2.20) modules.

  • CDROM2.EXE
This update contains an updated CDROM.NLM and support modules for NetWare 3.12 and 4.01. The new version speeds up CD-ROM operation under NetWare, and includes a number of bug-fixes and feature enhancements.

  • LG4084.EXE
This update includes a new LOGIN.EXE for NetWare 4.x that overcomes a number of issues that had been identified with previous releases, including failure to read login scripts and other miscellaneous login failures.

  • 401PT2.EXE
This update contains a number of NetWare 4.01 operating system dynamic patches. A number of the patches also apply to NetWare 3.12 and 3.11, and should be used in conjunction with other patch kits available for those releases (namely 311PTD.EXE for NetWare 3.11).

All the above updates contain full documentation detailing the changes and fixes that have been made, along with full installation instructions. This documentation should be read and understood prior to installation. Apricot recommend that these updates be installed on ALL relevant servers.
