3Com 3C5X9 LAN Cards in Pentium Systems

A problem has been found whereby the configuration utility supplied with the 3Com 3C5X9 (Etherlink III) LAN cards crashes and/or hangs when run on Pentium based systems.

The problem has been traced to a problem with the 3C5X9CFG.EXE utility supplied on the current Etherlink III drivers disk. 3Com have supplied an updated version of this utility that overcomes the problem. This new release can be downloaded from Apricot Insight BBS in File Area 37 as 3C5X9CFG.ZIP. It is also available from Apricot's FTP server on the InterNet (ftp.apricot.co.uk in /pub/bbs/area37), and it will also be on the next release of the Insight CD (Rel 6).
