RPL Remote Boot Workstations using MS-DOS 5 with RPLKT2.EXE

Novell have recently released an update to the Remote Program Load (RPL) support files for NetWare 3.1x and 4.x. RPLKT2.EXE contains a new version of RPL.NLM along with new versions of all the relevant support files.

It has been found that the new version of RBOOT.RPL (7920 bytes dated 10/10/94) contained within RPLKT2.EXE exhibits a problem when booting MS-DOS 5 based RPL workstations. The problem causes the MS-DOS 5 workstation to display a ‘Non-system disk or disk error Press F1 to continue’ message when booting. Pressing F1 allows the machine to continue booting normally.

To prevent this from happening, replace the above version of RBOOT.RPL in the SYS:\LOGIN directory with the version found in the archive RPLKTA.EXE (7587 bytes dated 28/12/93). This archive can be downloaded from Apricot Insight BBS, or can be copied from the Apricot Insight CD (Rel 7 or later). Once this version has been copied into SYS:\LOGIN, you should then down and restart the server for the changed file to take effect.

Novell have been notified of the problem, and as soon as we receive a update that resolves the problem we will issue another IPB with full details.
