Installation of Small Business Server to systems with non Microsoft HCL peripherals

Installation of the Microsoft Small Business Server package to systems such as the FT1200 PII that has a non Microsoft HCL SCSI controller installed to the Motherboard (Adaptec 7895 SCSI controller) causes the install to fail as NT 4 cannot identify the controller correctly.

We suggest that when the SBS package is installed to any system with a non HCL peripheral the following procedure is followed.

On disk 2 of the floppy install set, edit the file WINNT.SIF to change the

OEMPreinstall = YES line to OEMPreinstall = NO.

This interrupts the installation procedure to allow the user to select the appropriate mass storage device driver for the system.
