Internet Explorer 4.x, Windows NT4.0 and Service Pack 3

This IPB applies to both Server and Workstation version of Windows NT4.0

If service pack 3 needs re-applying after installing Internet Explorer versions 4.0 and 4.01 have been previously installed, then you may receive a message warning you that the service pack install program (UPDATE.EXE) may not run correctly. Clicking on the DETAILS button will give a short explanation of the procedure to be followed it you do need to run service pack 3.
The basic procedure is as follows: -
On the dialog box giving the warning, click on the RUN PROGRAM button. This will start the service pack installation. When you get to the option box asking whether or not you want to create an Uninstall Directory, then choose "No, I do not want to create an Uninstall directory."
During the install you will also be asked about replacing newer files, at the first instance that this appears, choose "No to all". The service pack installation will then continue. When it has finished, you will be asked to click OK to restart your machine. Before you do this, click on the "Start" button, then click "Run". Type the following command "regsvr32 rsabase.dll". Click OK. The windows box that tells you the regsvr32 command was successful appears under the last message from the service pack install, so by clicking on the service pack message title bar and dragging, you will be able to close the regsvr32 confirmation box. Once this has been done, click OK on the service pack completion message.
The machine will then reboot, service pack 3 has been updated, and your Internet Explorer will also be operational.
