Qi 600 Systems and Xenix Panic Messages

Some Qi 600 systems have been suffering from the following problem during Xenix installation:

PANIC : General Protection Trap

This problem has been investigated by Apricot and a fix is now available.

A replacement PAL chip (part no. 11783621) is available from Dealer Spares at Apricot Computer Services on telephone no. 021-511 1234. This is a socketed part.

If an existing customer starts reporting similar problems, or has a malfunctioning fpu, (e.g. 'df' fails) please contact Apricot Unix Support who will advise whether this fix is applicable.
