Western Digital cards and SCO Unix TCP/IP

The current revision cards require a patch to the low-level driver for the Western Digital Card. The problem is demonstrated when after installing TCP/IP the card is seen but no external communication is possible. To install the patch permanently on a machine please do the following:

cd /etc/conf/pack.d/wdn0
/etc/_fst -w Driver.o
wdinit_board+74?w c40c
$q

Then rebuild your kernel and reboot the system. This problem is also known to cause NFS to run very slowly, although NFS should never be installed before SCO TCP/IP has been tested and shown to connect to other machines.
