Irwin 120MB Tape Drive under XENIX & Unix

For the 120MB Irwin tape drive to function under XENIX, it must be installed within the software by the following method:-

  1. Install SCO supplement disk XNX146
  2. Run 'mkdev irwin'. This will make the '/dev/rctmini' devices

For the 120MB Irwin tape drive to function under UNIX, it must be installed within the software by the following method:-

  1. Use custom to install SCO supplemental disk UNX222. This will make the '/dev/rctmini' devices.

Under no circumstances run 'mkdev tape', as the mini cartridge option completes but when you try to use the tape drive, the error "cannot open" is returned.

Both of the SCO supplemental disks are available from file area 39 of the Apricot bulletin board.
