Installation of SCO Unix from tape on XEN-LS II

See also IPB 3189

When installing SCO Unix 3.2v4 in tape distribution form on the XEN-LS II with internal SCSI tape the following procedure must be used:-

  1. Configure the Adaptec 1510 card for IRQ 9 and I/O address 340h as detailed in IPB 3142.
  2. Boot the system from the N1 floppy and at the Boot: prompt enter: unix kernel.adapter=spad(0x340,0x9,0)

Note: If an installation has already been attempted onto the hard disc then enter the following at the Boot: prompt:

    restart kernel.adapter=spad(0x340,0x9,0)

  3. Install the extended utilities as well as the basic installation.
  4. After installation edit the file /etc/conf/sdevice.d/spad as follows:-
    spad Y 1 5 0 9 340 35f 0 0
  5. Re-link the kernel

To use the SCSI tape as rct0 use the command 'mkdev tape' to remove the cartridge tape and then again to make the SCSI Tape Drive the default.
