Specialix Driver Release 7.00

The latest Specialix driver is currently release 7.00. Extra configurable features have been added to the port configuration utility (config.si) that are of interest and could well be useful. These features are accessed by selecting the View / Edit TTY option in the usual manner. Their names and a description of their functionality follow:

tty locked - When this is set to 'locked', the characteristics of the port cannot be changed. The default is 'unlocked'. You can also lock / unlock port settings using the following commands:

slxlock / slxunlock portname

e.g. slxlock /dev/ttya01

store params - When a port is closed the hardware characteristics conventionally revert to a set of default values. When this parameter is set to 'store', however, the hardware characteristics of the line will be maintained across port closes. The default is 'don't store'.

resume tty - If you have a port which has stuck in an X/OFF state (awaiting an X/ON character) - perhaps causing a process to hang with blocked output - you can use this feature to resume output. The port will be unblocked allowing you to kill the process if required. When you select this option, a box will be displayed containing one option: 'TTY resume Tx'. Select to resume flow. This feature can also be invoked using the following command:

slxresume portname

e.g. slxresume /dev/ttya01

force ixon - Certain applications switch software flow control off. To override this, set this feature to 'set'. The default is 'not set'.
