Quantum Trailblazer Drive Firmware
An issue has been found running the "Intel Retail Demonstration
Program" on the Trailblazer 850MB drive (SU54941) giving GPF faults under WIN95. This
is caused by a revision of Quantum firmware, and this combination of Software and Hard
Disk Firmware is the only occurrence we have come across that causes the problem.
If you require to run this Demonstration software on a machine with a
Trailblazer 850MB drive in it, then there is a Drive Firmware update from Quantum that
fixes the problem.
The firmware update is contained in a Zipped file called TRAILBLZ.ZIP in
Area 46 of the Apricot Insight BBS.
NOTE: Area 46 is a dealer only area and the file should not be passed
onto an end-user.
Contained in the Zipped file is a batch file called RUNME.BAT that
creates a bootable floppy disk, the text of this batch file must be read thoroughly.
- The bootable floppy disk must be used non-write protected.
- A label with the text "ECO24844" must be attached to the drive
after updating or warranty will be void.
- The Trailblazer drive must be the master boot drive (ID0).
- The result of running this update on other drives is unknown and may
adversely affect the drive.
The bootable floppy disk automatically updates the firmware on the
Trailblazer with no user intervention. |
