PnP machines and Windows 3.xx
We have found that some machines are either slow to boot and under
certain configurations hang intermittently in Window 3.xx. This IPB mainly refers to the
BIOS configuration and memory inclusions for the Spitfire motherboard, (machine product
codes LG, LH, EA) but can be related to other PnP BIOS machines such as the Lightning
Motherboard.
BIOS SETTING (version 10.06 or greater if on Spitfire)

Microsoft have reported a fault with the default keyboard driver, which
may cause systems to lock up on keyboard/mouse at Windows startup.
This can be resolved by either installing version 9.01 of the Microsoft
Mouse driver (mouse901.exe in area 41 of the BBS), or by installing an updated
keyboard driver (WG0974.EXE from area 5). Assuming that the keyboard driver update is
used, you would end up with a file called VKDA.386 in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. Also
check the SYSTEM.INI file for the following changes.
SYSTEM.INI

keyboard=*vkd
changed to read....
keyboard=c:\windows\system\vkda.386
