Raid RPX module for Apricot FT2400 Installation and Setup

This module should be installed following the instructions given in chapter 7 of the Owners Handbook which can be found on the system CD-Rom. Strict anti-static precautions must be adhered to at all times whilst the system covers are removed, or while handling the RPX board.

Any required memory must be in place before installing the board and the on-board battery must not be connected until the board is fully installed in the system slot.

When the system is ready to be restarted, turn on the power and immediately insert the system CD-Rom and reset, so that the FT2400 can reboot from it. When it has done so exit the menu. Then the follow the steps below:-

  1. Insert the disk labelled "RPX Update Utility" into the floppy drive.
  2. Change from C:\ to A:\ and run the executable RPFLASH.
  3. Select "Update Flash Memory" from the menu, it will ask for an appropriate disk in A:\.
  4. Remove the first disk and insert the disk labelled "RPX Firmware" and press Enter.
  5. Select by use of the keyboard down arrow, the file shown in the lower window and press Enter.
  6. Do not do anything until the process has completed.
  7. On completion, remove all disks and exit the utility. If it does not automatically reboot, reset the FT2400.

You now have to enable the BIOS.

  1. Press <F2> to enter the Bios Setup program during reboot.
  2. Choose the "Advanced" menu screen.
  3. Change the "I/O processor" field to enabled.
  4. Save the changes and exit the Setup program and the FT2400 will start to reboot.
  5. When the prompt appears, enter <Ctrl + M> to enter the AMI MegaRAID utility.
  6. From the main menu select "Objects".
  7. Select "Battery Backup".
  8. Select "No of cycles" and press Enter to reset the counter.
  9. Press Esc repeatedly to exit from the utility, then press any key to reboot.
