Extra Serial Ports for MCA Machines

We have recently been looking at an add-in MCA expansion card that offers two additional IBM AT compatible serial ports (i.e. 9 pin D connectors). The card, an IDE Associates IDEAmini/MC Dual Asynchronous Adapter card, is a short length MCA card that fits in any of the free slots in an MCA based machine (Qi 300/600/PC/PC i/VX FT).

The card installation is simplicity itself. Just power off the machine, insert the card, power the machine back on, and run an 'Automatic Configuration' from the Apricot Reference Disk. The two extra ports will then appear as the next two available serial ports on the machine (usually SERIAL 2 and SERIAL 3). These ports are hardware addressable and so will operate correctly with most comms software that can address COM2/3/4 etc. They will also function correctly under OS/2 (for extra serial printers on a LAN Manager server for example).

The cards are available from:

RRP is £150.00
