OS/2 1.1 Server Adaptation and Partition
Sizes
We have discovered that certain partition sizes will prevent the OS/2
1.1 Server adaptation from installing correctly if they are chosen.
The partition sizes to avoid are 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB and 1024MB.
We have not tested partitions above 1024MB, but would expect 2048MB (when suitably sized
media becomes available) to give problems also. The error experienced, if you have an OS/2
partition sized as above, is...
non-contiguous file error
The file OS2LDR could not be copied onto contiguous sectors on your hard disk.
This will prevent MS-OS/2 from running.
If ANY other partition size is used, the problem is NOT encountered (so
127MB would be OK, as would 257, 513, 63 and so on). The problem only appears to occur
with partition sizes that are a power of 2 and that are greater than 32MB. These should
therefore be avoided when configuring your OS/2 hard disk.
