NetWare 386 v3.1 Servers & DOS 4.01

We have found that if DOS 4.01 is used to create the DOS boot partition for a NetWare 386 v3.1 server, the server will fail to load any NetWare Loadable Module (.NLM) files loaded after the Adaptec drivers, reporting a Read Load File error. This will happen regardless of whether IBM (PC) DOS or Apricot (MS) DOS is being used.

The NetWare 386 v3.1 Adaptec drivers (AHA1640.DSK v2.0 & ASPITRAN.DSK v1.0) were tested and certified using DOS 3.3 as the base operating system, and as such we would advise that DOS 3.3 be used to create/format the DOS boot partition that is used by NetWare 386.

See Novell IMSP bulletin D-124 (available upon request from your Novell supplier) for further details of the NetWare 386 v3.1 Adaptec driver certification.
