ELS II and Western Digital Ethernet Cards in MCA Machines

Dealer Technical Bulletin Number 36 (Volume 2) section 3.5.19 (on page 3.5-9) contains a step-by-step method for installing ELS II onto a Qi server with a Western Digital Ethernet card. This method is needed because, by default, ELS II will assume that it is installing onto an AT bus machine, and will therefore select an AT card configuration for the Western Digital Ethernet card.

At the time the article was written, the required card configuration option was:-

Option 16: Micro Channel Adapter Auto Configuration

However, with Release 3.09 of the Western Digital NetWare 286 Server Drivers, this configuration option no longer exists. The configuration options that are now offered are:-

Available LAN Configurations

0: IRQ=3, I/O Base=280h, RAM at D000:0 for 16k
1: IRQ=5, I/O Base=300h, RAM at CA00:0 for 8k
2: IRQ=10, I/O Base=2A0h, RAM at CC00:0 for 16k, 16 Bit Only
3: IRQ=2, I/O Base=240h, RAM at D800:0 for 32k
4: First Software Configured Adapter
5: Second Software Configured Adapter
6: Third Software Configured Adapter
7: Fourth Software Configured Adapter
8: First Micro Channel Adapter
9: Second Micro Channel Adapter
10: Third Micro Channel Adapter
11: Fourth Micro Channel Adapter
12: Driver Configurable by Jumpers Utility

You should therefore select:-

Option 8: First Micro Channel Adapter.

The rest of the information in Technical Bulletin 36 (Volume 2) Section 3.5.19 still applies.
